    Lake Nyamusingire is a crater lake that is situated in the Rubirizi district, in western Uganda. Lake Nyamusingire is a crater lake and is nearby to Chekoba and Nyakiyanja, at an approximate terrain elevation above sea level of 1,010 meters. In some cases, the lake is referred to as Lake Nyamisigeri or Lake Niamsigeri.

    Lake Nyamusingire is located in Queen Elizabeth National Park which park is located in southwest Uganda in the Kasese district. This is about 6 hour drive from Kampala, the capital of Uganda.

    The common activities carried out on Lake Nyamusingire include; nature walks around the lake in the ancient Maramagambo forest. This gives you an opportunity of exploring the bat cave, which is home to thousands of bats and is also known for the gigantic rock pythons. You will also enjoy bird watching; canoe rides as well as kayaking trips on the largest crater lake in Uganda.

    While at Nyamusingire crater lake, you can also enjoy evening moments at the large stone fireplace, where you can share your adventure stories and view fabulous sunsets and sunrises.

    There are good accommodation facilities nearby Lake Nyamusingire. Jacana Safari Lodge which is set on the edge of the lake has an excellent view of the surrounding. The lodge is in harmony with nature because it delicately used natural materials and rich textures. These blend perfectly with the scents, sights, and sounds of tropical hardwood forests, which create an unforgettable travel experience.

    About Queen Elizabeth National Park and Lake Nyamusingire

    Queen Elizabeth National Park which is approximately 1,978 square kilometers (764 sq mi) is one of Uganda’s oldest national parks formed officially, along with Murchison Falls National Park in 1952. It is understandably Uganda’s most popular tourist destination located in the western region of Uganda, spanning the districts of Kasese, Kamwenge, Rubirizi, and Rukungiri.

    Visitors to Queen Elizabeth National Park always complement their visit with a gorilla trekking safari in the nearby Bwindi Forest National Park or a chimpanzee trekking expedition in Kibale National Park. Others could opt for a boat cruise on the Victoria Nile to Murchison Falls.
