You can decide to take a game drive through Mweya Peninsula before or after the amazing boat cruise along the Kazinga channel. Either way, you will still have the same experience of the region. The Mweya Peninsula area, including channel tracks down to the Katunguru gate and the Kabatoro gate, has a thick ground cover of dense vegetation predominated by candelabra thorns.
Game viewing can be difficult in this area, but there are several game drive tracks to follow, that are well-maintained. The signposting can be difficult to follow at times in Mweya Peninsula and it is most likely you might get lost at some point. However, the main road in the park and the channel track are obvious features that the game drive tracks juncture at some stage.
Most people that come to Mweya Peninsula do so to enjoy a 2-hour boat cruise on the Kazinga channel. The park operates a 20-person motorized vessel, so there are sometimes three 3 cruises a day depending on the number of persons interested.
Visit Queen Elizabeth National Park‘s office at Mweya to register your interest in a boat trip. The offices will join groups and individuals together to conduct a cruise. Trips depart from the jetty below Mweya Safari Lodge, so you will walk or drive to the jetty by exiting through the barrier at the entrance to Mweya offices.

Queen Elizabeth National Park which is approximately 1,978 square kilometers (764 sq mi) is one of Uganda’s oldest national parks formed officially, along with Murchison Falls National Park in 1952. It is understandably Uganda’s most popular tourist destination located in the western region of Uganda, spanning the districts of Kasese, Kamwenge, Rubirizi, and Rukungiri.
